The student intern will learn and practice deep learning methods and strategies under supervision. In particular, the student will work on training deep neural networks with medical and biomedical informatics data.
Job Description
1. Acquire, prepare data sets 2. Outreach to local public schools 3. Document workflow of performing computational sciences research and hold a public workshop 4. Train neural networks to extract features in medical and biomedical data 5. Co-author a research paper or poster to be submitted to a professional conference

Training Plan
1. The student will be guided to study Deep Learning by following "Deep Learning with Python (Francois Chollet)"; 2. The student will be guided to read Bridges User Guide and beginner training materials of XSEDE. 3. The student will be mentored about ethics and protocols on working with medical and biomedical data; 4. The student will be mentored on training deep neural networks with medical data 5. The student will have an opportunity to meet with domain expert in biomedical research for guidance.
