To deploy the Anvil Capacity cluster to the XSEDE Community
Job Description
A student in this position will primarily be working alongside HPC System Administrators and Data Center Staff assisting them to do hardware and software installation, OS configurations, and other system administration tasks on ITaP Research Computing's resources. Occasional programming/scripting projects (Perl, Python, shell) will be available. The ability to quickly learn new technologies, good written/verbal communication skills is essential. An interest in high performance computing (HPC) and self-motivation is a plus.
Experience using Linux/Unix systems in a command-line environment. Familiarity or interest in configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Salt, or Ansible. Familiarity using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Perl, Ruby or similar.
Computational Resources
The summer student will help bring the Anvil XSEDE resource to life and will work with user adoption by the community
Contribution to Community
It will allow us to further our user facing experience with the upcoming Anvil Grant. This student will have direct contact with early users on the XSEDE resource through the allocation process and ticketing process.

This student will assist the Systems Engineering team in deploying the Anvil cluster. They will learn production deployment techniques, the will also learn the XSEDE community, by helping with initial allocations and tickets coming in.
