This project will develop data visualization Jupyter notebooks, web pages, or other digital tools to enable easy assessment of cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) analysis routines. As part of the COSMIC2 (cosmic-cryoem.org) project, data visualization tools will enable COSMIC2 users to understand and interpret their jobs with clean, simple, and informative data visualization tools.
Job Description
The student will spearhead the design and implementation of data visualization tools to accompany cryo-EM image analysis jobs submitted at COSMIC2. The student will also work within the COSMIC2 team to engage with lively discussions surrounding high-performance computing, cryoEM, and deep-learning topics.
Computational Resources
The student will interface with the Expanse supercomputer housed at SDSC via the COSMIC2 XSEDE allocation.
Contribution to Community
The tools developed by the student will be shared publicly via Github and included with output results from the COSMIC2 science gateway for cryo-EM.
Position Type
Apprentice
Training Plan
The student will work with the COSMIC2 team to plan their project and receive feedback. This will include weekly meetings with Dr. Michael Cianfrocco and informal meetings with other members of the tema.
Student Prerequisites/Conditions/Qualifications
The student must have basic python and Linux experience. Experience with Python, Jupyter, or R data visualization tools would be beneficial, but not required.
