SummaryWe aim to employ the multi-core architecture and high-RAM capacity of the Bridges-2 RM resource to parallelize the processing, slicing, and re-stacking of our credit card transaction dataset, containing more than 11 billion transactions. A student would help the project move forward while gaining supercomputing technical skills and mentorship.
Job DescriptionStudent will use Bridges 2 to:
- identify which are the tasks that gain from supercomputing.
- query transactions on a need basis in a flexible and agile way.
- execute computation-costly analyses.
- prepare data visualization.
Computational ResourcesWe currently have 300GB storage and 30,000 core-hour allocation at Bridges-2 as part of a start-up research allocation. We might need to expand storage, given the size of our dataset. For now, these are the resources we aim to use.
Contribution to CommunityThis project brings consumer finance and supercomputing together, being one of the few projects in the social sciences that XSEDE hosts. Additionally, this project brings the economics and business backgrounds of the PI, co-PI, and students to be recruited.
